how to have a good day
this is "how to have a good day", the very first song from my new upcoming album, introverse.
i spent over a year crafting the sonic world of this album before writing a single note.
the idea was to create something that feels like a band playing a full set, start to finish, like a half-remembered moment from the 90s. no click track. just one sound, and one emotional flow.
i played and recorded everything myself in my basement (true to the name).
this song came from a slightly strange place.
the main riff started while noodling on a ukulele i bought right before my daughter was born.
it gives the song that bright, almost morning-anthem feel,
but underneath it’s really about connection, presence, and trying to hold things together in a very noisy world.
lyrics:
across the wall
a person dived into the light
and on the seat
a thief is growing appetite
i got no room in my head
to know what i have found
no room on my hands
to carry it around
got no room in my dread
to take a moment and recount
on how to have a good day
a fragile girl needs you
to teach her how to live
you're only halfway through
the book how to forgive
this train is moving at too many miles per hour
if only i could feel...
show me love, i'll show you real
show me honesty, and i'll peel
the layers, the liars
the heat of the sun
and we'll know
how to have a good day
have a good day,
